- Locally procured sand and clay are sieved and filtered together, then ground to form a fine powder.
- Cement is mixed with water and converted into a dough.
- Clean glass frames are placed on a raised structure.
- A square frame is positioned over the glass to form the tile base.
- A metal frame, designed according to the motif, is placed on the glass to obtain the design.
- Artisans pour different colors into the compartments of the metal frame to form the desired motif.
- For freestyle designs, the color is poured directly on the glass and manually swirled.
- Once the pattern is filled with color, a mixture of dry sand and cement is sprinkled over it to help hold the colors.
- A mixture of sand, cement, and baby jelly is prepared by hand.
- A layer of mortar is spread on the tile using a spade, and the tile is leveled.
- Excess cement is removed with a blade.
- The frame is eased out from the tile after the cement is partially set.
- The tile is dried overnight.
- The dried tile is dipped in a water tank for curing, which strengthens the tile.
- After curing, the tile is taken out, and the edges are finished for a polished look.
